Jody Hampton is coming home.
Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center’s new Director of Community Engagement has been entwined with the organization since 1996, when she served on various committees with Shellie Brassler, one of ADRC’s founders.
Hampton, 55, has dedicated her career to supporting Central Florida’s aging population, serving as the Day Break director at Winter Park Health Foundation’s Miller Center, which ultimately merged with Easter Seals in 2001.
Prior to that, she’d worked for Orange County Parks and Recreation, managing the Marks Street Senior Recreation Complex.
Hampton also dedicated nine years to working in private duty home care.
When she previously worked for ADRC, she handled outreach efforts and marketing.
Her Lake Mary and Maitland support groups are still meeting today.
In fact, it was Hampton who started ADRC’s Embrace the Moment Excursions.
“I wanted Care Partners to go out with their people. We’re all in this together,” Hampton says. “People get secluded at home and they need to be able to get out, too.”
In her new role, she’ll expand that outreach work, bringing ADRC’s services to underserved communities.
“I am coming home,” she says of her return. “I want to come home.”
When she is not building relationships within the community, Hampton enjoys watching sports with her husband and two sons. They also love spending time at the beach or visiting waterparks, says Hampton.
Born in Louisiana, Hampton grew up around water, boats. She now operates EPCOT’s private fireworks cruises, and has been a part-time Disney employee over three decades.
Professionally, Hampton finds fulfillment in nurturing her community, and she enjoys working directly with people who are seeking support.
Hampton is excited for ADRC’s growth — reaching more people and developing partnerships that will support our Care Partners.
“As Edith always says, caregiving is tough stuff, but with the right tools and techniques, and with the right direction through ADRC, we will help you navigate through,” Hampton says.
Congrats to you Jody!!! We have common background at Orange County!!! But well, well before your time!!! I worked with Jay Blanchard if that name means anything.
Hope to meet you soon!!! Dan Cahill
