Interested in joining a unique project by simply speaking? The Dinner Time Project: A long-term study for understanding language and dementia
Written by Carolin Schneider, a linguistic postdoctoral researcher at the University of Duisburg-Essen
I am very happy to be returning to Florida this September to start the new Dinner Time project! This project aims to establish a unique collection of English and multilingual conversations during dinner time to understand communication patterns, needs, and dynamics over time. I am looking for mono- and bilingual care couples consisting of individuals living with dementia and their primary care partners.
Participants should be willing to record one dinnertime conversation per month. By participating in this study, you will contribute to a better understanding of the changing communication needs of care partners in both English and multiple languages. This understanding can lead to improved support, resources, and materials for caregivers and individuals living with dementia.
If you want to get involved, please reach out or consider joining my virtual Question & Answers Session on August 28, 9am here:

About me:
As a linguist, I am interested in how we use the languages we speak in different contexts throughout our lives and how we may use them differently over time. I passionately teach about language in general but specifically about language and dementia as a lecturer at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany. I am looking forward to working with ADRC again and thankful for all their support.
