Elevate self-care: Join ADRC's new evening support group
The Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center is excited to offer a new evening support group for Care Partners. The sessions are virtual, meaning you don’t have to be a Winter Park local to take advantage of the community space.
Ashley Gravatte, ADRC Program Specialist, will facilitate the meetings, which take place the second Thursday every month, and last approximately 90 minutes.
“The support groups are an opportunity for caregivers to come and share their experiences,” Gravatte said. “They are a safe space.”
The calls allow attendees to pour into one another, offering up suggestions and stories. Everyone has an opportunity to be heard, validated, and supported.
“This is their time. I’m only there to make sure that we stay on topic, and that accurate information is shared,” Gravatte said. “I think that it’s an important part of our job to be able to hold space for people, a nonjudgmental space.”
The new 6 p.m. offering was created to better accommodate Care Partners whose work schedules make it difficult to attend the other time frames.
“All are welcome to join our new support group,” Gravatte said.
